Madd Gear MGP Deck compatible setup's

This page explains the compatibility of your setup with an Integrated MGP deck. We do not pretend to cover every fork or compression product on the market. If you are not sure about your fork or compression's compatibility, please call or email us BEFORE buying the deck. Thank you.

Decks from different brands come with different head tube lengths. The picture to the right shows that the MGP deck has the shortest.

Forks from different brands come with different steerer tube lengths. This means that not every fork will fit well on every deck.
.
For HIC compression, we recommend that the fork steerer has a minimum length of 1 3/4 inch above the headset. We recommend that the fork steerer has a minimum length of 1 1/4" and a maximum of 1 3/8" for 3" SCS. A minimum of 1 3/4" and maximum 0f 1 7/8 for 4" SCS.
Some forks lend themselves to be cut shorter to fit the MGP deck. Typically, they are steel threadless forks (Proto, Grit, Inward, DSA) where a starnut can be installed. Some aluminum forks can be cut short. Please check with us before you decide to cut your fork.
If you want to use HIC, we recommend a stock MGP fork with stock MGP HIC compression. To use SCS compression, we recommend that you use a Phoenix(pre-2015), Tilt, or urbanArtt fork (or any other fork with a steerer length of 150mm) with Proto 4" SCS.
.
If you want to use Lucky HIC, we recommend any Phoenix(pre-2015) or a Tilt Nimbus fork or any other fork with a steerer tube of 150mm with integrated starnut. With a 3" SCS, you can use a Phoenix(pre-2015), Tilt, or urbanArtt fork (or any other fork with a steerer length of 150mm), but you will need a 10mm headset spacer. We generally do NOT recommend headset spacers. They create a weak point and your fork may bend.
.

If you want to use a Phoenix(2015 onward)Lucky fork or other fork with steerer tube longer than 150mm with HIC, we can make a custom HIC shim for you. Just mention it in the comments at check out.

We definitely do NOT recommend setups like the one on the right. Too many headset spacers. This fork is guaranteed to  bend.

If you still have questions about compatibility of your setup with the MGP deck, please call or email us BEFORE buying the deck. Thank you.
